USP Receives a Gift from USP Alum

The University Scholars Programme (USP) has received a generous prize gift from USP alum and faculty member Dr Mustafa Izzuddin (Political Science + USP, Class of 2005) to establish the “Izzuddin Taherally Prize” which will be given to outstanding graduating USP students.

USP Students Present at CTPCLC Symposium 2019

Seven of the eight presentations and exhibitions at this year's Chua Thian Poh Community Leadership Centre Symposium on 10 May were done by our USP students. They are also CTPCLC fellows who spoke passionately about the research they had conducted in various areas, ranging from ways to improve an estate for dementia patients to perception study on immigration and immigration integration in Singapore. Mrs Josephine Teo, Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Home Affairs, graced the occasion as Guest-of-Honour.

A Conversation on US-Singapore Relations + A Casual Exchange with SPS Baey Yam Keng

In USP, students actively lead and organise meaningful and critical discussions by hosting interesting guests pertaining to the topic. Here, The Sessions team shares with us about the conversation on US-Singapore Relations by inviting three panellists to USP for a dialogue session with USP students while The Cinnamon Conversations team shares with us about the casual exchange with Senior Parliamentary Secretary (SPS) Baey Yam Keng.

USP Experience

The University Scholars Programme (USP) offers an “USP Experience” to a few selected students who eventually matriculate with the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. To help these students manage both USP and Medicine programmes, they read fewer USP modules, but are expected to stay in the USP residential college (Cinnamon College) and be actively involved in the college and out-of-classroom activities over the course of about two years. SPAN Get-Together 2019

The annual Scholars Programme Alumni Network (SPAN) Get-Together organised by the University Scholars Programme (USP) was held on Saturday, 16 Feb. Set up to be a cozy affair, the event saw about 60 USP alumni, students, faculty and staff come together for an evening of memories and great company at the rooftop of the Education Resource Centre in University Town. It is our first time using this space for our get-together.

A Hackathon for Everyone

A team of professors and students from the University Scholars Programme (USP) at NUS organised Data Journalism 2019 — USP’s first-ever data hackathon — from 16 to 17 February 2019 at Cinnamon College (USP), University Town. In line with USP’s belief that applied learning should be accessible, inclusive and diverse in order to break down silos and allow for connections across disciplines, the hackathon was designed to be suitable for all students regardless of their technical background or expertise.
